Childish Gambino Cancels Sold Out Australian Tour
It's the tour that sold out almost instantly, but it appears Childish Gambino won't be making his way down under after all.
Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) has cancelled his 2018 Australian Tour - including his appearance at Canberra’s Spilt Milk festival - after suffering a foot injury at a concert in Dallas last month.
In a statement, Gambino said, "I'm not ready to put on 100% shows. Apologies to the fans. I will be back soon."
The rapper was due to perform shows in Perth (November 8), Melbourne (November 10) and Sydney's Opera House Forecourt (November 14 and 15), and headline Canberra's Spilt Milk Festival.
Gambino's Australian tour promotor Live Nation has said, "Live Nation is working with the artist to try and reschedule the dates for a new time period, we ask fans to please stay tuned – any updates will be available on Live Nation’s website, Facebook and Twitter."
Spilt Milk Festival organisers have also released a statement assuring ticket-holders that an "exciting line up addition" is on the way, but unfortunately, won't be "an artist the calibre of Childish Gambino... so close to event day."
Last month, TMZ reported that the 35-year-old left the stage 30 minutes early during a concert in Dallas, Texas. Concertgoers told the tabloid news website that he was attempting to do the splits and hurt himself, while others say he simply misstepped during one of his iconic dance moves. It was later reported that he had broken his foot during the show.
