Man Arrested After Breaking Into John Mellencamp’s Home

A man has been arrested after he was caught allegedly breaking and entering John Mellencamp’s home.

Indiana police arrived at the Cherry Bomb singer’s property early on Thursday morning to find the front gate fully busted open and a man inside a building on the property.

The bloke was later identified as Robert Carter.

He allegedly told the cops he was there to arrest Mellencamp for supporting a different government than himself.

Carter also admitted to kicking down Mellencamp’s door.

He was charged with burglary, residential entry and criminal trespass.

Mellencamp is pretty outspoken about his criticism of President Donald Trump, and it doesn’t always go over well with his fans.

However, the musician has previously said that political beliefs don't align with any party lines.

"I don’t trust the government. I don’t trust the Democrats. I don’t trust the Republicans," he explained.

"I’m a little bit more Democratic than I am Republican, but really I’m a socialist.

“And that’s where it’s at.”

Neither Mellencamp or his fiancée, actress Meg Ryan, were home at the time.

The internet, of course, reacted accordingly...
