Taylor Swift Opens Up On 2017 Sexual Assault Trial
No one is more prepared for 30 than Taylor Swift.
On Wednesday, the 29-year-old singer, who celebrates her birthday on December 13, spoke to Elle on her feelings about the anniversary and all she's learned at 29. "According to my birth certificate, I turn 30 this year. It’s weird because part of me still feels 18 and part of me feels 283, but the actual, factual age I currently am is 29," the "Delicate" star tells the publication. "I've heard people say that your thirties are 'the most fun!' So I'll definitely keep you posted on my findings on that when I know," Swift added.
To tease the milestone, the pop star offered 30 life lessons and experiences she’ll never take for granted.
While some teaching moments were more reflective in nature — like how being too polite can backfire and how apologizing can help build trust — the "End Game" artist also detailed graver discoveries, like learning to cope with a serious illnesses in her family and recalling how her sexual assault experience taught her to believe other victims of abuse.
"Coming forward is an agonizing thing to go through. I know because my sexual assault trial was a demoralizing, awful experience," Swift said. "I believe victims because I know firsthand about the shame and stigma that comes with raising your hand and saying 'This happened to me.'"
In August 2017, Swift won a civil case against former DJ David Mueller, whom she claimed groped her during a meet and greet photo session in June 2013.
"It’s something no one would choose for themselves," Swift continued. "We speak up because we have to, and out of fear that it could happen to someone else if we don’t."

But until then, I thought I’d share some lessons I’ve learned before reaching 30 with @elleusa, because it’s 2019 and sharing is caring.😺 Check in with @elleusa for the piece, posting tomorrow.
